For a long period of time, the Jewish community in Fürth was one of the most prominent communities in southern Germany. Hebrew letter presses and the Talmud school made the city famous in the 17th and 18th century throughout Central Europe. Until today, many buildings still exist, among them the Old Jewish Cemetery, the school, the former orphanage and the hospital and various Jewish houses that survived Nazi destruction
