The superstars of the Klezmer universe celebrate their thirtieth anniversary

The Klezmatics – the band that changed the course of Jewish music history, the only Jewish music group to win a Grammy Award – celebrate their 30th anniversary! 30 years of transforming the Yiddish and klezmer world. 30 years of “heretical” behavior, of questioning, of going against accepted beliefs and dissenting from established dogma.

From the beginning of their career, The Klezmatics have demonstrated that Yiddish music does not have to be nostalgic, schmaltzy, or kitsch; that Jewish Klezmer is Eastern European party music and a vital part of the spectrum of world dance music and culture. Now, approaching their fourth decade together, the Klezmatics continue their redefinition of Yiddish music with their new recording, Apikorsim.

Italian emotion – musical perfection! Klezmerata Fiorentina was formed in May of 2005 with the purpose of developing a concert version of traditional Ukrainian-Jewish instrumental music, the family heritage of the group’s founder, Igor Polesitsky.

Here come the kings of Latino Klezmer! Bass player and frontman Markus Milian Müller, together with accordionist Bartek Stanczyk and percussionist Daniel Piccon, combine a variety of musical traditions from Bobov to Bogota. Flutist Gustavo Mendoza is their special guest from Columbia.

Hot homemade Klezmer-Brass! Starting twenty years ago as a group of buskers playing traditional Yiddish party music on the streets, the Amsterdam Klezmer Band has evolved into an internationally celebrated band with a rock solid live reputation.

Goylem is an unusual musical phenomenon hailing from Oslos underground scene. With one foot rooted in traditional klezmer, the several other feet and limbs of this intergalactic folk ensemble are free to explore Nordic traditions, Balkan beat, Middle Eastern dance rhythms, psychedelic prog and sci-fi electronica.
