For centuries Fürth´s Jewish community was the most important in all of southern Germany. Hebrew printing works and the Talmud College made the city’s name known throughout Central Europe of the 17th and 18th centuries. To this day the old Jewish Cemetery, the secondary school, the orphanage and the hospital as well as numerous former Jewish houses with their ritual facilities exist as relics that survived the Nazis` mania for destruction.
